Health System in Limbo
Into a limbo large and broad, since called
The Paradise of Fools, to few unknown.
John Milton (1608-1674), Paradise Lost
October 5, 2012 – According to the recently released Physicians Foundation survey of 630,000 physicians with nearly 14,000 responses,  the largest survey  of its kind ever undertaken with 48 searching questions, 92% of physicians are unsure where the health system will be 5 years from now and where they will fit, but 84% are pessimistic about their prospects.
Physicians’ futures will depend, in large part, on the November 6 elections – who is elected President and what the make-up of the House and Senate will be.
Until then and possibly after,  the future of physicians and the nation remains in limbo.
Which leads to this limerick.
The future of the health system and the nation are in limbo.
Politicians’ legs are apart and their elbows are akimbo.
They stand ready to thrust and jab,
To throw a punch in each others’ ab,
Or to seduce voters like an ordinary bimbo.
